History
How we got here
2022
We began a deep dive into the world of ambient automation, investing heavily in both software and hardware devices to build a seamless, responsive environment. Among the use cases we solved: property safety monitoring, air quality monitoring, lighting automations and ambiance data gathering for decision making. The deeper we went, the more roadblocks we encountered. Commercial solutions came with strings attached: mandatory cloud connections, fragile internet dependencies, forced updates bringing breaking changes, invasive data collection, sub-par hardware that would break - just to name a few. The realization was clear: modern automation was broken.
2023 – 2024
We treated our own spaces as a living laboratory. We built a solution strictly around local network control and technology ownership. The goal was to build a system that was reliable and deeply extensible to manage home automations.
2025
As the system matured, we discovered we weren't alone and many others were facing the exact same frustrations. They were tired of paying recurring fees just to keep their lights and media running, and they dreaded the day an external server outage would render their smart deviceless useless. The mission expanded from a personal passion project to a universal solution. To bridge the gap between premium convenience and absolute privacy for the wider public, baseworks.tech was officially established as a formal business entity.
2026
The home automations transitioned from an indie engineering project into a dedicated tech brand, ready to scale ambient infrastructure to spaces everywhere.
